About Us
Mallard Marine Corporation was founded in 1995, when David A. Boys needed a boat better suited for free-lance
duck hunting. David, a taxidermist from Portland, OR, wanted a multi-purpose craft that would allow him to access
low cover areas that late season birds favor. David designed the boat we know as the Marsh Rat(tm) Magnum and
shared it with others. The Marsh Rat Magnum, made from fiberglass, was known
for ease of paddling, stability on the water and greatly increasing bags of hunters. Over the years, David improved the boat
by adding features.
David, my father, and I talked at length about the Marsh Rat Magnum. I was a fan, but
desired a lighter version. In 2006 the lighter, polyethylene model Marsh Rat(tm) was introduced.
Unfortunately, David passed away in 2006 while hunting Black Brant on Tillamook Bay. However, he hadn't left the
landscape unchanged. What remained was a cadre of family and friends committed to Mallard Marine and continuing
the Marsh Rat.
Today, Mallard Marine's future is bright. It is operated by me, David A. Boys II, with the help of my wife, Leila, our three
boys and a great partner, Don Hart. At times, Meredith Boys, my mother, will even help out. We're small, but we make
up for this in our excellent service, product knowledge and desire to help waterfowlers get a truly great boat!
We're excited to continue bringing the Marsh Rat, the Marsh Rat Magnum and an increasing line of accessories.
Mallard Marine is located at 5700 S.E. Foster Rd., Portland, OR. Both the Marsh Rat (polyethylene model)
and Marsh Rat Magnum (fiberglass model) are on display there. The Marsh Rat is available at
Sportsman's
Warehouse stores across the United States and
Joe's Sports, Outdoors and More stores of the Pacific Northwest.
The Marsh Rat Magnum is available direct from Mallard Marine.
Thank you for visiting the Mallard Marine website and as always...
